over and over again

While I'm hesitant to call it an actual capsule wardrobe ... I find myself throwing on the same few (ahem .... 12) things when I'm not falling victim to the, "doing absolutely nothing in my active wear" cliché (which is often) so I thought I'd share like the care bear that I am. I know Jenna has done a couple of posts like these and I loved them. Copycat 4ever ever.

I know I'm not nor will I ever be a fashionista < --- my disclaimer. You've been warned.

Buckle up because here we GO.

1. the cotton crew from Everlane - I've tried so, so many v-necks and have come to the boring decision that I like crew necks a million times better. I actually love turtlenecks the most but ... summer. This one is fitted but not tight and not tunic-y, but doesn't resemble a baby doll tee. {worn here!}

2. loose peplum - I've been living in this. I don't love traditional super fitted peplum on me (although my swimsuit IS sort of peplumy) but I love this. Here's another similar version in other colors too!

3. destroyed denim - I know I've blogged about these before but they are worth the second mention. I wore them prettttty much every morning I dropped Julia off at school and I'm sure the other parents we're super impressed with my wardrobe variety.

4. Whisper Cotton Long Sleeve - I lucked out big time and found this new with tags on thredUP for a fraction of the original price and I love it. I like having a long sleeve shirt or cardigan in my bag for the aggressively air conditioned buildings (almost all of them. why?) and this one is loose enough for layering but looks just fine on it's own as well. It's lightweight and it's not a crop top -- so many crop tops these days! *shakes cane*

5. Brea Heeled Sandals - because these feel like a summer-friendly version of my beloved comfy clogs. Old Navy's dupe is really great too (I tried them on and they run a teeeeeny bit small, like a 1/2 size)

6. Elisabet Jersey Dress - After reading tons of glowing reviews on this dress and waiting and waiting and waiting for it to go on (temporary) sale ... I bit the bullet. It's structured jersey material but isn't super hot and I love the longer length of the sleeves. Whenever we're running late for Mass (every other week) it's nice to just throw this on and know it's an appropriate length and I won't freeze in the (again!) overzealous air conditioning. {see it in action here}

7. chambray shorts - I can't say enough good things about these. The length isn't that of denim underwear and the fit is really comfortable. I've washed them many, many times and they've held up really well. They run ever so slightly big. I do have my eye on these but only if/when they go on super sale. Super!

8. Huarache flats - I'm bummed American Eagle didn't bring back their open-toed version (like these) this year (although! I guess the summer is young) but I love the look of the closed-toe version as well.

9. Sole Society coral wedges - Karla sang the praises of these wedges and she's one of the cutest dressers I've ever e-seen so I took her word for it and took advantage of a Sole Society sale and am so happy I did. These are comfortable and low enough for Phoebe-chasing and the coral goes with aaaalmost everything in my closet. Plus - I need to get out of my beige/tan/camel/brown footwear rut. Big time. {worn here!}

10. Artemis Pants from Fabletics - dress them up, dress them down, wear them all around. No, these really are the type of true hybrid pants that I can wear to the gym or put sandals and a tank top on and not look like I may or may not have a date with the elliptical later on. And they are lightweight and comfortable enough to sleep in. Not that my lazy self would know!

11. $5 tank - from Old Navy. I love this top because it doesn't have weirdly long arm holes so an undershirt under the tank isn't necessary which is nice in the summer heat.

12. New Balance - Nothing fancy or crazy but I wear these all the time. Phoebe fetches them for me if she sees them sitting lonely in my closet ... so thoughtful.

I see your yawn. I don't blame you. I'd love to hear any of your staples or favorites especially as we head into summer.

happy Friday eve.

  1. Oh you took me straight back to that fabulous YouTube! Now I'm singing "Doing literally nothing in my active wear" (definitely the best line). Cackling.
    These are all perfect for mum life and my single pair of jeans could use a rest. Thanks for the links!

  2. I love everything. How are the white shirts from everlane and old navy? I loath a see through white shirt, I don't want to wear a tank under a shirt in the Iowa summer/humidity!

  3. Love all this, but especially the dress! Cute T-Shirt dress is like my summer mom uniform. It's a dress, its a cover-up, it's a gown. Wow, when I type this out, I really realized how much I've lowered my expectations...
    Was going to buy the Hanna Anderson dress, but alas they are sold out in my size :(
    Just for a frame of reference, how tall are you? I'm 5'8, so I have to watch the length....

  4. I am loving that loose peplum top! I finally bit the bullet and bought Chacos this summer, and they have not left my feet. In fact, the kids I nanny are constantly asking if they are my only pair of shoes, haha!

  5. I live in these tops, although it looks like they have recently changed the design and it might not be as good. But I love the built in bra (so I don't have extra straps showing) and the fact that they come up a bit higher - I can easily dress them up or down. http://normthompson.blair.com/p/misses/tops-tees/womens-updated-full-coverage-perfect-fit-cami/pc/1793/sc/1794/125859.uts?rank=rank11&sort=sort_price_low&count=500&q2=1794~Tops+%26+Tees&store=12&q1=1793~Misses&intl=n&q=*&sc=N&x2=c.t2&x1=c.t1

  6. Those are THE shoes I've been looking for... Only, I need a dark brown color to go with my navy dress. I may get brave and go with grey... How true to size are they? Thanks!
