7 Quick Takes

Joining Jen for another round of the takes over at Conversion Diary today. Don't act surprised.

1. I LOVED and appreciated all of your comments on yesterday's post. As Erica commented, a better question probably would've been, "who ISN'T embarrassed by their blog?" It's a pleasure to be in such great, embarrassed company. Bloggers fist bump or a forehead to forehead touch (Sebastian's version of a kiss) or something terribly corny.

2. Simon and I watched Celeste and Jesse Forever last night. Barring some VERY inappropriate scenes (so if you watch it -- think less of me -- but know that I warned you!!) but we both really liked it which is really rare. I love a good rom com and Simon humors me (I recently subjected him to Bachelorette which was TERRIBLE -- strongly do NOT recommend so he was skeptical) but they aren't his thing and this was the perfect mix of rom, com, and dram. Also, if I could look like Rashida when I grow up - that'd be great.

3. Sebastian burned his hand really bad on my curling iron last night and he has the blister to show for it today. It was totally my fault because I was curling my hair when someone needed something and then I got distracted and started making dinner for the kids and Sebastian looked mischievous, grabbed a spatula and a colander and before I knew it he was screaming in the hallway outside of the bathroom biting his super red hand. I've felt guilty before but this really reached a whole new level of terrible. He would only stop crying if we took him outside .... happy as a clamlet (footage).

what burn?

His leggings have lace adorning the ankles and at one point he was dragging his purple fuzzy blanket behind him down the middle of the street as every single neighbor pulled into their driveway and Simon was super thrilled when he pulled up to the scene du jour.

4. Julia was sitting on the kitchen counter this morning watching me make breakfast and got her finger caught in the can opener. The more she struggled to get it free the more she screamed. I got her finger out and looked at it with one eye half open (I really am such an infant about blood) to make sure her finger tip was still intact before I gave in to her comfort food of "milk in a bottle" in her crib with a Dora band aid (on her shirt - never ever on the wound). So overall .... I'm feeling very confident about my guardian skills.

5. I e-signed some official looking petition protesting the shut down of Google Reader. I'm very sure that it's going to be wildly effective and we won't have to decide between Feedly and Bloglovin'. Worry not.

6. Sean + Catherine Forever. I LOVED the finale but I hate that Sean is doing DWTS. It's bringing back nightmares of Jake Pivelka and I just want him to marry Catherine and have the cutest babies in the world and live happily ever after. I'm really happy they aren't making us wait another million months before Desiree's season starts. I am that show's target audience. I can't get enough and I'll just go ahead and own that sad fact.

7. I know I've pounded out some boring posts in my day but this just might be the worst. Forgive me.

I hope your weekend isn't terribly disappointing.

  1. If that is Sebastian with a terrible burn on his hand, I can only imagine that he'd be doing cartwheels with a broken leg. Not that I want to actually find out.

  2. Hope your weekend isn't terribly disappointing. . . thanks for setting the bar so incredibly low. Anything above that is pretty much a bonus. I'm feeling surprisingly good about my chances. Happy Friday. Or, you know, mediocre at best Friday. :)

  3. Our sons kiss the same way. This makes me incredibly excited and I fully encourage it because it will mean he wont be viewed as romantical conquest until he realizes that people don't kiss by meeting foreheads.

  6. I dropped my 3 week old on his head and gave him a skull fracture, and last week, I was THAT parent, that left my 7 month old in a bumbo seat on the table, he grabbed a chair, tumbled himself down and cut his finger to the bone, needed sedation and stitches. So, yeah, curling iron...it happens ;)
Thanks for the movie recommendation. I will force my husband to watch it tonight :)

  7. I so hope that petition works. I flipped out when Google told me they'd be shutting down my beloved Reader. Boo hiss.

  8. RE: #3: Back in the day, one of my younger brothers was known sport a sequined unitard, inherited from one of the older sibs' gymnastic/dance recitals, whilst riding his bike around our driveway (this was pre-Lance stretchy bike pants are hip) such that when one of our neighbors was selling their home, they requested that my mother bring him indoors during showings. He's cool now.

  9. Hadn't heard of Celeste & Jesse Forever until I saw it in Target the other day. Glad to hear it's good--maybe I'll check that one out sometime soon. I like rom-coms with a smidge of brainy in them.

Ah, the Bachelor. I remember watching the first few seasons in college (which means this show is really, REALLY old!) and somehow got sucked back in this season. I'm not proud.

  12. Thank goodness for some sunshine! I am sick of getting all my vitamin D in the form of supplements. :)

Loved this season of the Bachelor, hear's to a great season with Des! I have been a tv junkie its been the easiest way to de-stress from the kiddos, even though I think I am losing brain cells. Although, I prefer Nashville over the Bachelor. Have you seen New Girl? Hilarious, Erin Flynn has me hooked now!

  13. I let Ellen pull a sofa table on top of herself and it hit her in the chest so hard her nose bled and we had to call 911. Guh. Curling irons happen.

  14. I refuse to participate in yet another reading device. I will simply hope that I come across all the blogs on facebook. SOMEONE HAS TO TAKE A STAND!

  17. So sad when little guys get a burn. The pain lasts for a long time and you can do next to nothing to make it feel better. Recently my MIL decided to grace 3 of us with 30+ year old birthdays with the full number of candles. My daughter fell victim to the pyrotechnics that resulted!

  18. Hey, so I was really worried when they announced the Reader shutdown, but I moved myself over to Feedly, and I think it's actually better. (For what it's worth...)

  19. Stephen and I are always looking for movies to watch (I hate most action and all suspense/scary movies so I've subjected him to way too many awful romantic comedies) so we'll have to check out Celeste and Jesse Forever. Also, I'm counting down the days until Bachelorette starts, so glad it's Des...and I had no idea that Sean was doing DWTS, weird.

  20. So as much as I love to give the Bachelor/Bachelorette participants a bad rap I still do think Sean and Catherine are a cute couple. I just don't get WHY they feel they need to do all this publicity stuff. I was bothered by him saying they want to be normal and live a normal life - umm...pretty sure last time I checked having your wedding aired on ABC isn't all that "normal"...along with ditching your fiance to go dance 6-8 hours a day. Just me and my opinion, though.
