We like to pretend our life is exciting enough to document day after day after day.
Welcome.
We'll get the fiesta started with Simon, the patriarch of the clan. In his ample spare time, Simon enjoys cleaning ancient crumbs out of Julia's highchair, making bottles for Sebastian in the middle of the night, and simultaneously changing both kids' diapers.
Simon is an OB-GYN intern by day and night and comes home with stories that are immediately filed under: crazycakes. He occasionally makes Grace crack a small smile.
Grace enjoys writing in the third person. She loves walking diapers outside to the big trashcan multiple times a day, inhaling prenatal gummies, and mugs of Almond Joy creamer with a dash of coffee.
She is a recently retired nanny turned federal government employee turned high school Engish teacher. She stays at home with Julia and Sebastian and is always on the hunt for some quiet, sanity, and a Top 40 hit to bump on the family friendly vehicle's radio.
Julia is 20-month-old toddler/monster/child. She has yet to meet a milestone on time, speaks 1/1000 of the English language fluently and enjoys taking lukewarm baths in the evening, never misses a chance to watch Grace change Sebastian's diaper, and routinely sneaks off and inhales tropical flavored antacids.
She never wears the same pair of socks twice because she has successfully hoarded and hidden every pair her mom makes her wear.

Sebastian is lucky child numero dos. He is seven months old (but looks 18 months big) and loves to do nothing allll day long. He tolerates Julia's abuse, his mother's occasional neglect and the fact that his middle of the night cries fall on his father's deaf ears quite often.
His favorite food is ketchup and we're still trying to figure out the origin of his perpetual good mood because there is no way it's genetic.

But enough about the children. Back to the importants.
(pre-kids ... don't we just radiate 'care-freeee'?!)
Simon's parents are Grace's Godparents but Simace actually has Facebook to thank for reconnecting them after 12ish years of no communicado. Despite a rocky inaugural late night/early morning phone conversation about immigration in October of 2007 they dated long distance until Simon proposed in July of 2008 in DC where Grace was working at the time.

They were married in August of 2009. (You're welcome for the unsolicited timeline)
same wedding...same marriage...same desert
All four campers currently reside in St. Louis while Simon will complete his residency for the next three years. Yay. They can generally be spotted on Sundays in the hospital chapel wrangling an ill-behaved Julia, not wrangling a well-behaved Sebastian, and dreaming about cafeteria post-Mass donuts.
The rest is notable history and is probably addressed in painful detail in multiple posts.
We're happy you're here today.
Enjoy.

Oh my gosh! I've never read this page.
ReplyDeleteYOUR DRESS!
I swoon. I sigh. It's gorgeous! Wow.
I love this page! And I, too, have a husband with enviable hair, although unfortunately for him it's so poufy that if he doesn't have it long it looks like a poor white boy's afro.
Luckily for me, this means he wears his hair long, which thrills me since I have a long-hair issue dating back to my unfortunate pre-teen obsession with Hanson.
But enough about me.
Your dress!
