excuses, excuses.

excuses!

I hate to drop off the face of the blog when my posting is already spotty at best but a dead laptop (RIP forever), week long stomach bug from purgatory (you like that play on words?), and um the usual back-to-school prep along with an upcoming trip to pack for and you've got a recipe for Excuse Cake. Extra frosting in Graceland.

But I'm back. For today anyway.

First and last time I'll ever say this but it's warranted this one time: MOM GOALS.

The very last thing I need is a baby wrap/carrier but a flash sale + the glowing reviews and several upcoming flights convinced me that this was a good purchase. I shall report back - fear not.

I'm just about finished with The Sunshine Sisters and eh - not my favorite. If you've read anything awesome lately - I'd love to hear about it!

On the Bachelorette front - Dean filled in for Ben on the Almost Famous podcast this week and it was a good one, I thought. I'm curious how they are going to handle the finale with three men still standing. I can't watch the finale on Monday night so I think I'll just turn off my phone and tape blinders to my temples until the kids go to bed on Tuesday night - a foolproof plan, surely!

Alright I have to admit that even though I said that I prefer Fabletics leggings (and I still do) to the almighty Lululemons (I've tried two different styles and I find that they pill and lose their shape much easier than Fabletics but maybe it's just me) I got a pair of these shorts for my birthday last week and they definitely win in the not-too-short/not-too-long/don't-ride-up/perfect-in-crazy-heat departments. I've been all but living in them. I get the hype. I guess.

Some people might be counting the days until the sale ENDS so they don't have to hear about it anymore - I'm still debating sizing up in a pair of my favorite denim to get me through the postpartum period of fun but I'm not sure how practical jeans are in Florida at the moment. Decisions decisions. I've had these open on Simon's notdead computer for several days so maybe those are a smarter purchase.

Alright, I'm not going to tell you how many days this took to type and post because I'd have my blogging license revoked forever.

Have a happy weekend!!

xoxo,
GP

  2. Not sure what your threshold for YA lit is, but I've been on a kick this summer* and really enjoyed Eleanor and Park, and The Sun is Also a Star. Whimsy and love and whatnot.

  3. I loved using the K'Tan for my little one when he was first born! It stretched out a bit though, and now that he's 20lbs I'm packing it up (maybe should have kept the M size since I exchanged it for an L when I was in my postpartum-nothing-fits-phase)

  4. Did you read, 'It ends with us" by Colleen Hoover...I feel like you have but if by some chance you haven't it is hands down the best book I have read all year.

  5. I cannot get over that lady who pushed a triple stroller. That is unbelievable.

  7. Love the purgatory (purge-atory?) pun! ;) Glad to see you back. Abe is adorable, as always!

  8. Two suggestions: for leggings, I swear by Athleta. The product is very well made and they have lots of cute colors, lengths, etc. For a book, I recommend "Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine." Enjoy!

  9. I love the baby ktan! Using it now for baby number two who is 3 weeks old -- I feel like it's kind of a struggle to get their heads tucked into the carrier unless he is sleeping. Otherwise he gets mad and seems uncomfortable. This is either just the nature of the wrap orrrrrr I'm just plain doin it wrong because I remember it was like that with my first baby too. ‍♀️ but I like it more than ring slings still and my first seemed to like it more and more as he got older. It gets uncomfortable once they reach 15 lbs or so but it is so good for these newborn days ! I hope it treats you well and your flights go awesome

  10. I loved my baby k'tan for my youngest during the newborn stage. It is great to have the snug fit of a wrap carrier but without all the wrapping and tying especially when you have toddlers on the go as well!

  11. I will chime in to say I also love my K'tan for the 0-5/6 month stage. It's fantastic! It's the only wrap/along style that didn't make me worry about my babies falling out. Lol We do switch over to the Boba 4G after they get too tight in the K'tan.

  14. I just read Fitness Junkie and found it fun and an easy read. If you like YA I've recently enjoyed When Dimple Met Rishi and THe Sun is Also a Star and The Sea of Tranquility (I've read a lot of decent YA this year.). I think you've read most of the same adult (not porn, as that may sound, but as in "not for kids") novels I've enjoyed this summer!

  15. Ok but she ran the marathon with her three LITTLEST kids, so it barely even counts!!

  16. Where'd You Go Bernadette is hilarious and heartwarming and real. Five thumbs up!

  17. Have you read the Call the Midwife trilogy? Heart-warming and wrenching with great readability. Love them! And would love to hear your thoughts on the Baby Ktan. I have a Boba, but am thinking the (easier) wrap style would be nice for wearing number 3 around home in the early months with two other children demanding attention. Thanks!!

  18. A couple other good recommendations: All the Light We Cannot See is amazing. And the #1 Ladies Detective Agency is very fun.

  19. If you haven't already read I've Got Your Number or Remember Me by Sophie Kinsella they are fun, easy summer reads. I also really enjoyed The Chemist by Stephanie Meyer. I was not into her Twilight books, but this one kept me reading well past my bedtime! And I think I have you to thank for my recent Nancy Thayer marathon! I feel like I spent my summer on Nantucket island!
