I blame the internet.

AH! It's Monday. And I've had a potty training post hanging around at the tippy top for two too many days now.

Shame
on
me.

I should have a little something something to post here but .... no. I was busy figuring out how to put the cover back on Phoebe's car seat after washing it (straps! buckles! why did I not take a picture before I tore it apart?!), hitting up Costco for the usual weekly staples + black bean spaghetti noodles (Simon is going to be TICKLED), and um ... Googling the Taylor Swift/Selena Gomez feud which somehow landed me on Justin Bieber's Instagram and the internet is the worst.

... and the best. Because I do have these fun things to share with you and yours this afternoon:

My mom, my youngest sister, Sarah, my aunts, AND my grandma (I'm sure my invitation got lost in the mail, sure of it!) all flew out to Atlantic City today to watch my cousin (Sierra! Go Miss Idaho!!) compete in the Miss America pageant. I think there's still time to vote for her in the People's Choice competition so ... if you're feeling extra generous ... I think it takes two clicks. Thanks if you do, and thanks if you don't!

I'm still on my Friday Night Lights kick and am thoroughly enjoying round two with the Panthers especially after I watched Season 1, Episode 5 this time around. I spotted my blog friend turned real life friend, Indiana, giving Smash the eyes. I knew she was an extra on the show but it was cool to see and recognize her this time around. She wrote a ridiculous post about how Coach Taylor trumps Tim Riggins and even has a little vote going .... so help a brother out.

I'm guessing you already saw this exciting bit of news but I'm SO excited for Jen. I had the pleasure of meeting her in real life and she's just as engaging and witty in person as she is on her blog so the air waves are in for a real treat.

Did you notice my new header? The talented Jolie over at Brim Papery whipped that up for me. Love her. {I was a paying customer ... worth every penny!}

Is it just me or have you noticed that a lot of people seem to be blogging less? I'm the guiltiest. I'm the world's slowest post writer in the (ancient!) history of blogging and blah blah excuses. I need to get it together, I know. Anyway, I was just curious if you've discovered any new blog blood lately? (One of my recentlyish discovered favorites is Kate over at The Small Things Blog ... ) Or maybe you've started a blog? Let me know in the comments if so! I need to update my blog roll like whoa.

Okay, I think that's it. I had "beach chair" jotted down in my (organized!) notes to blog about but present Grace has NO idea what former Grace was talking about.

OH FINE. One photo of the children that are scarcely blogged about ...

... neglected fourth child. the love to watch her "flip" aka roll over aka all the excitement around here.

And now I'm off to greet sweet Theo who is up from his nap and yelling, "NO!" on machine gun repeat and of course start that black bean spaghetti for dinner.

Simon says, "yay."

  2. I started a blog in Juneish! www.whistlesandclovers.com. And seriously, your blog is my favorite. I have shared some of your posts on Facebook, recommend followers for you on instagram and on your blog.. seriously, I'm like your little cheerleader...... in a non-stalkerish way of course. :)

  3. Later on I want to know how that black bean spaghetti turns out because I almost grabbed those at costco last week.

  4. No guilt! You blog a lot and it's good. But I have noticed it seems less folks are blogging.

  5. Tim Riggins forever and always!! I should seriously not even get started on how much I love him. I just may have to write my own post on the Riggins v. Taylor debate to set all those crazies voting for Coach straight.

  7. You are so funny. You blog the most of any blog that I follow. And I never skip or just skim any of your posts, which must mean they all have good/ entertaining content!! I blog about twice a month and that is an exaggeration on the side of too many. http://www.thefattysmabees.blogspot.com

  8. Love this. I even have my husband hooked on your blog now. I mean, what? I never said that. Shhhh....

You've been there before, but mine is www.goforthandmother.com. the only guarantee in my life is that I post a cocktail every Saturday. Which means that my husband and I spend Saturday naptime making up and mixing up new drinks during Saturday naptime.

I mean, I have to, right? It's for the blog...

  9. I've noticed that my blog reader is much shorter than it used to be... although I'm as guilty as everyone else. Trying to change that, bc obviously the internet needs more of what I have to say!
Black bean spaghetti? I hope your kids love it for your sake, but the Italian in me is crying.
Is FNL worth watching in its entirety? I didn't pick it back up after season 1.

  13. I am so excited for your family and can't wait to watch Miss America this year!
I blog at www.tighteningthecorsetagain.blogspot.com but I've been in a dreadful writing slump this Summer. I have gone from blogging almost every day to blogging about once a week. Part of it is because I've been embroidering like a fool trying to make Christmas presents for everyone this year and part of it is because my life is so boring that there's only so many ways you can say, "I embroidered for seven hours today". I seem to do best with blog posts that I'm passionate about and lately I just haven't wanted to exert the energy it takes to be passionate.

  17. I definitely understand how difficult it is to put the car seat cover back on after washing it... which is why I'll be waiting until the next blow out to re-wash ours!

I actually blog at aMommyMemoir.com! I am fairly new to it, and definitely don't blog as much (or as well) as you. I love, love your blog! I just found it a couple weeks ago and it's such a joy to read! My goal is to write while my little one naps, but that has been less hit or miss and more hit and miss as of lately.

BTW - forgive me if this comment (or very similar ones) have gone through three times now. I'm not sure if my comments are going through. Mea culpa if you get more than one from me! I'm pretty sure that trying to get my comment to go through may be as difficult as washing and re-covering a car seat... minus the blow out.

  18. Coach Taylor vs Riggins? Why must one choose?? I love Friday Night Lights so much. When I watch Nashville I sometimes forget her name is Rayna and not Tami Taylor. And if you love FNL might I suggest Parenthood? A lot of the same cast and same writer/producer. And I cry like every episode. And I have a pathetic little blog that is soooo neglected. 37. I'm so scatterbrained so I need to list this out.
1 - Tim Riggins is like the guy I crushed on in HS (okay, okay and after) for YEAAAAAARS. Coach Taylor is the guy I ended up marrying. I guess I just like to dabble in both?
2 - You are way way way better at blogging than most. I blog (maaybe twice a month at this point...) over at www.nataliejbean.blogspot.com. And I'm totally jealous of your gorgeous header. Seriously, so pretty.
3 - Had grand plans for this evening...which ended up being Bachelor in Paradise, a root beer float, and the wormhole that is the internet. c'est la vie. every day. Heading off to find the deets on the Tswift feud now!!

  77. Hi Grace! I started following your blog a few months ago and love it! I recently started blogging earlier this year... not much to write home about just yet but I've kept up with it so far. Hope ya take a gander at www.nauticalnomad.com . I'm excited to read these comments as I am in need of some new blogs to read as well, a lot of my regulars have dropped off. Anyways, happy hump day!

  78. looove your new header! FNL totally changed my life when i got laid off 2 years ago and while i have my master's in social work, i seriously contemplated only applying for school counselor jobs so i could be tammy taylor. i even interviewed for one but then it lost funding (where's that school system in TX?!)

anywho, loving all these new bloggers to follow in your feed and i shall hazard to throw myself in the mix at www.theNewWifestyle.com

  79. Your blogposts/grams are the comic relief in my days! I always look forward to your posts and you never disappoint!

I started a blog (over 3 years ago) to keep my family and friends informed on our lives when I got married and moved across the country! My husband was a Resident at the time (now Fellow!) and I figured it would give me something fun to work on. Unfortunately all it's really turned into is a virtual scrapbook with pictures of my babies, the trips we take and a recipe or two sprinkled here and there. Nothing too exciting, but I love working on it and then being able to look back on the memories.

  81. I went on an extreme blogging hiatus during nursing school but now that I'm finished and an actual RN (!!!) I almost died of ITP, can't work, am doing chemo, and have nothing better to do but blog. Ohhhh, life. http://aimlesslastwords.com/2014/09/14/my-itp-story-or-that-time-i-almost-bled-to-death-part-one/

Just so you know, I waited on baited breath for you to update your blog while I was in the hospital for a week. It's the only thing I actually read.
