maybe I missed my calling as newborn photographer + more

Greetings from the land of many many revelations ...

"nope! still can't nurse and change a toddler bomb at the same time"

"four hours of prep work will get us out the door one hour after our desired exit time"

"I should feel some small twinge of guilt over the kids requested breakfast o string cheese, apple sauce, and Lucky Charms (no milk) but .... none ... nothing."

and, "why yes I am standing outside on the deck nursing sans cover hissing at the big kids to stop bringing worms inside where 'it's warm for the poor little sings' and oh! look! there walks our neighbor and her dog stroller ... staring"
(I don't know which one of us warrants the longer stare ... maybe her) .....

Greetings indeed.

Here ... hold the baby for a second.

I'll give her another week to get her face camera ready ...

Maybe two.

I have to confess that after asking the Facebook page for baby headband suggestions ... I couldn't resist and totally ordered a couple just in case Phoebe was a Phoebe and not a baby boy. And guess what? They are still not here. Crazy. Anyway, fellow mom Megan offered to send the girls some headbands and they got here about 3 hours after she emailed and I love them. So much. Willow Crowns has a wide variety of (non-frilly!!) styles in super cute patterns and most important - are super soft for little newborn heads - even bruised ones like poor little P. Right now Willow Crowns is offering 20% off all orders with the code: PHOEBE so ... take advantage if you'd like!

If Simon wasn't working and then jetting off to another interview this weekend you better believe I would be e-ttending this. Looks awesome. And FREE.

I've sworn off sugar (well, basically Easter candy and it's only been 36 hours so .... not counting unhatched fowl here) for the time being but this "cheat" looks amazing. And totally worth the trek to the store with all four ducklings.

I really, really, really want one of these. And I know I would use it at least five times a day. Probably more.

I usually wrap my camera in a blanket/towel/nothing and throw it in my purse which is just begging for a Patton disaster to strike ... maybe my cam would like a prettier and safer haven? I can't make up my mind but this is my favorite ... for the minute.

Thee best new link-up on the block. A new favorite of the masses, I know't.

My photography notskills don't do these pretties justice. The big kids sort of took it upon themselves to rearrange them, I was nursing Phoebe, and playing a rousing game of fetch with Theo ... in my pathetic defense. Anyway. Bloom2Bloom offered to send flowers in honor of Phoebe's arrival and I am a total sucker for flowers ... especially lately. So .. I said no. J/K. I said yes, please! And here there are in all of their gorgeous glory. They are offering 23% off (get it? April 23rd? good.) off any order of $50 or more through the END of June ... awesome. Just use the code: CAMPPATTON and don't forget those moms and grads that might love flowers like crazy Grace does. For every arrangement purchased Bloom2Bloom donates flowers to various charities. Very cool.

And one little bit of blogkeeping to bug you with. How do you read blogs? I still miss Google Reader but I use Bloglovin' ... primarily on my phone. I just can't quite get on the Feedly train ... I don't know why. People have emailed that the email subscription option has stopped working and I was thinking about signing up for a different service other than Feedburner but maybe no one likes that option? I don't know. Let me know if you have a minute. Or don't - I'll still like you just fine.

Okay. Gotta jet. Theo is somehow blasting, "Jai Ho" on my phone. He thinks he's died and gone straight to heaven. And maybe he has.

  8. I'm a Bloglovin fan but truth be told, I tend to head straight to your blog from my browser... stalker much?!

  9. Wait, was the offer to hold the baby a real offer because I would LOVE TO HOLD PHOEBE. She is so tiny and cuddly and snuggly.

And I am not usually a fan of baby headwear, but I am loving the headbands you put on her. They are so simple and cute!

  10. She is the cutest! You're doing a fantastic job. And don't give me a heart attack about Feedburner just yet. I'm subscribed to my own list to make sure it's getting delivered and I haven't missed one yet. Try looking at your settings and make sure your feed url didn't accidentally get changed or some such other technological nonsense I barely understand.

  11. I read blogs on Bloglovin, and haven't really explored the other options.

  12. Your Phoebe is such a sweet little blessing! Love her headbands. And I read my blogs via bloglovin'.

  13. I use Bloglovin. My only complaint about is that if bloggers don't create links to open in a new tab often the pages wont load. Bloglovin obviously doesn't like to share any internet love. So if I want to click on your links like in this post I have to go to your website direct and follow them from there...

    1. I use Bloglovin and have the same problem, try right clicking on the link and then choosing "open link in new tab". That way you can get there directly from bloglovin.

  14. I love Phoebe and her cute little newborn chicken legs. I generally use bloglovin, though I rarely do on my phone once I realized that it wouldn't always give me the entire post and commenting is the worst. Maybe they've since changed? Thanks for the info about the conference - I told Joe after a long loud day that I want to go on a silent retreat.. this may have to suffice.

  15. Are you supposed to have a specific app to look at blogs? I just bookmarked the ones I like & check every few days to see if there are new posts. For blogs I really like I follow their FB posts.

  16. I love how Google got rid of Reader because "no one was using it," and then there was this collective howl from the internet and a void left behind. I've been using Feedly... It's okay.

  17. I use Feedly on the computer but use the Reeder app (with my feedly account) on my phone for RSS. I wonder if you could put Feedly in Flipboard? I have a few blogs in Bloglovin', but I truly miss Google Reader.

I don't know how you manager to blog with all your littles AND read blogs, too! You're amazing!

    And that vacuum looks glorious!

  18. I'm new to the world of blogs so just have my faves (yours obviously included) saved as favourites on my phone in safari and I check every day or so for updates. I am also subscribed to your email list but they come ages after you actually post (12-24 hours ish?) and I'm not that patient so I usually just find it myself on safari. I'm keen to see what everybody else does too.

  22. I use Bloglovin but i'm less than impressed. Was curious about Feedly but you no like? And also I hate/love it when you share a bunch o' links because of course I have to open them ALL and my browser then slooooows down ... #blogproblems

Again, congrats on being Momma x 4. You rock.

  23. Ok, Phoebes little birdy mouth is just begging for newborn open mouth kisses. I hope all ya'll deliverin.

  24. I love feedly! I did not feel the bloglovin love. Feedly forever. (Of course, every time I find a feed reader I like... poof! The powers that be close up shop but hopefully not this time!) Also, I am now lusting after a hand-held vacuum. We need one, since our dust buster took an unfortunate spin through a full cycle in the washing machine. I blamed newborn brain...

  25. I read on Bloglovin. Phoebe too cute, cookie dough Greek yoghurt is a stroke of genius and I have the Black and Decker hand vac and often have a closer relationship with it than my husband (joking, kind of) It's a gamechanger

  30. I just love reading your blog in the morning, it starts my day off right. And you are simply amazing to handle a blog and 4 kiddos!!! I mostly read posts through my email after subscribing with feedburner. Just recently I started using Bloglovin a little more.

  31. I use Feedly. It acts stupid on mobile devices occasionally, but other than that it's great!

  32. I read from my internet browser...I have the Camp bookmarked. Is that creepy? If so, sorry. (But not that sorry.) I have the bloglovin' app on my phone but I don't really use it because yours is pretty much the only blog I read.

  33. I use Bloglovin. And get oddly excited when a new post shows up. I relaly don't know how you do it. Hugs!

  34. The Old Reader--they fashioned it after Google Reader.

    RIP, Google Reader.

  35. The pictures demonstrating your newborn photog skills made me laugh so hard, I snorted. Guess it's not as easy as it looks, huh? Still, she is beautiful. I'm sure her posing abilities will improve with age!

  36. very very cute little girl. I also use theoldreader which is like google reader...

  37. I have a few (whoops!) fancy camera bags but when I want to use my normal purse or something else, I put my camera in a cheap insulated lunch bag. Yup, totally works. Padded, zipped in. Works great! I got a cheap one at target: http://www.target.com/p/built-neoprene-lunch-s-blue-hyacinth/-/A-14461148#prodSlot=large_3_24&term=lunch+bag

  43. team bloglovin'. i tried feedly first and couldn't get a grip on it.

  44. Seriously, Pheobe is so sweet- I love the bird leg stage! Bloglovin is what I use...when I get around to blog reading at night. Also, with this last kid, I've become embarrassingly apathetic about the whole nursing coverless. Goodbye modesty, I guess.
