family wishlist + a chance to win a $200 Amazon gift card

Aside from gifts for Simon's Secret Santa at work ... guess how much Christmas shopping I've done? Right. None. I know, I need to get on it. I see a LOT of Amazoning in my very near future and yet another yearly resolve to be more on top of things next year. Some habits die never.

Anyway ... let me procrastinate some more and put together a family wishlist which is not to be confused with a gift guide. With the exception of the ballet slippers and maybe toys for the boys ... everything is pretty ridiculous and no one is getting any of these things for Christmas but that is the beauty of a wishlist ... I suppose. It was fun to dream big for seven minutes.

1. for Grace - Sorel 1964 Leather Boot - I was outside watching Simon make a snowman with the kids on Saturday when I slipped and fell hard. Really bleeping hard. I'm fine, the baby is fine. But naturally now I need a pair of snow boots for the next time I step outside in the snow for five minutes.
2. for Sebastian - Melissa & Doug Shopping Cart - Julia was given a shopping cart by Simon's cousin last year and Sebastian is obsessed with that thing and it is the number one fight causer because they both love it so much so maybe having his own would solve all of the cage fighting ish? I don't know.
3. for Julia -Capezio Ballet Shoes - Duh.
4. for baby #4 - a 4moms rockaRoo - We were fortunate enough to borrow a similar swing contraption with both of the boys and it was an absolute lifesaver. Maybe it's time we invest in one of our very own?
5. for Simon Samsung Chromebook - His laptop is a dinosaur. He doesn't need a new one but aren't these new ultrabooks all the rage? Might be a good compromise.
6. for Theo  Melissa & Doug Deluxe Chomp & Clack Alligator Push Toy - Now that he is crawling this might be fun for him to push around while he watches the older two fight over their shopping cart and rip my sanity to shreds.

Now ... if you're in the market for a family friendly gift guide ... step right on over to Coupons.com ...

  1. 1 Costco sells that shopping cart online. And it comes with a crap ton of wooden food-- perfect to be thrown at siblings. So I've heard....
2 thoughts on a chromebook?? I've looked at getting one because my laptop from 2006 is going to croak. I've heard you can't run iTunes on chromebooks. Have you heard this?? What use is a computer to me if I can't back up my iAccessories?

Happy Christmas shopping. Or do what I do-- hide all the good toys in November and wrap up for Christmas. Ta-da!

  2. You have wood floors, right? Do you have any noise aversion problems? I can't handle noise and four kids is already above my sanity level. If that describes you, don't get the clacking alligators. They are so. freaking. noisy. And the kids love them - or they did before I cruelly got rid of them.

  3. I will warn you (or maybe you know this?) Sorels are like individual sleds for your feet on ice. I adore my Sorels, and desperately want to wear them which leaves me cursing every day of this ridiculous joke of "winter" North Carolina offers, but having fallen and broken my tailbone on icy sidewalks wearing Emu boots (like Uggs but actually Australian) once (yep, I was that girl), I'm a little gun-shy when it comes to falling again, so my Sorels are for non-icy snow only. But otherwise, I love and adore them. I wore them every day for all our winters in England except for the few occasions the snow was deeper than my boots, then I'd wear my Hunters with my welly socks. But I'd happily have a closet full of Sorels. And live in a climate that warranted them.

  4. I am with you on the no present for anyone as of now…hopefully santas got my back, because I am slacking!!! And I am super sorry you fell, I know all to well the feeling of falling in snow and being pregnant. I am pretty sure my husband received death threats even though it was no where near his fault. And the mamaroo is a lifesaver, I didn't have it with my first two, but we gave in with the third and I might have sold a kidney for one had I known how much I loved it.

  5. First...When you said "hopefully you'll come out a winner, winner" I really hope you were singing Jamie Foxx / Justin Timberlake / TI's "Winner." If not just pretend.

Second...SHOPPING CART! Did that exist when we were kids? I want one!

    1. There was a really really tough shopping cart by I think Mattel - http://childhoodmemorykeeper.blogspot.com/2008/11/mattel-tuff-stuff-toys.html has a picture of it.

  7. Sorel boots are the best. I love mine. The classic Sorels are all my dad wore when I was growing up in AK so now I won't use any other type of snow boot lol.

  8. That swing looks awesome! And I found out the hard way the Capezio ballet slippers run pretty small, just in case you were looking to get a pair for Julia. :)

  9. Um, may I mail you our daughter's Capezio ballet slippers?? We are dance class drop outs, and I hate that they sit unused. They've been used about 6 times. Just throwing that out there. I have to drag myself to the post office anyway really, really soon.

  10. I have those boots - well, mine look more like Julia's, but they're worth it. Really.

  11. I love my Sorel boots but I'm with Gesci, they are slippery on ice. Great for tromping around in the snow for long periods of time though - I actually wear mine with bare feet inside. They're just that warm.

And we were gifted with the mamaRoo when the Baby Man was born and I love, love, loved it. So sad he's outgrown it (he's 2 now, LOL) and I wish they made one for grown ups!

  12. Ok, in regards to falling, you have hardwood floors right? How do you keep from slipping when you come in from the snow and step on them? We can't fit a rug under our door, so we don't know what to do except a. don't go out in the snow (my favorite plan) and b. do the truffle shuffle until we are all safely on the carpet.

  13. I'm with you 100% on Amazon. No shame there. Which brings me to my shameless plug... If you do shop on Amazon, check out AmazonSmile. Just like the regular site, but 0.5% of the price of whatever you purchase goes to your charity of choice. If you need ideas, I work for a pretty great organization ;) http://smile.amazon.com/ch/52-2022113

  14. Amazon for life! Our nephew has the alligator toy, loves it. One of NICU nurses was going on and on about how excited she was about her MamaRoo. Have you seen the 4 moms stroller that folds itself up?

  15. I have an Acer Chromebook and LOVE it. It's wonderful if your main use for a laptop is the interwebs. I do wish it had the ability to download programs, but for my purposes, it's the perfect at-home comp. :)

  16. That's it we have to get the shopping cart - I was going to give the girls nada for Christmas because they get more than enough from the grandparents and I like to live life wild and on the cheap side, but that cart could sway my scrooge heart.

  17. I came across your blog a little over a month ago, and I just love it. Really. You're freaking amazing raising your kids - I have one beast, and she pretty much put me off anything subsequent. Keep it up mamma, you're doing a wonderful job!
