Shameless Solicitor

shirt - thredUP
denim - Forever XXI
leather cuff - c/o One Little Mama Shop
boots - c/o Online Shoes

Simon kept suggesting we try and find a motorcycle to use as a prop. And then he said I should use the minivan as a badass backdrop and then I finally let him talk me into the curb sitting photo which I promise to never subject you to again because I just can't shake the feeling that I look like an aged senior in high school trying to recreate my senior pictures a decade (fine, more than a decade) later.

ANYWAY.

Hello from my perch over in begville! A couple of months ago Online Shoes contacted me about taking part in one of their monthly style contests that they host and I slowly counted to three and then responded with a super cool - not too eager - not tooo cool - "sure!" and then I waited for a follow up email letting me know that they had made a terrible mistake  . . . but they were kind and charitable and let me take part this month. The other three bloggers brought the kind of competition that makes the fiercest of Tyras shake in their motos and and I'm totally at your sweet mercy for generous votes.

I'll admit that while I love the boots - they are not something that Safe Grace would've ever picked out because she is a mostly practical mom but I have visions of pairing them with dresses + tights, leggings + tunics (or did that style go out in 2008 and I'm just in a bit of denial?), and revisiting my old black denim haunt all dancing in my head. Just wait. Plus! No heel = comfortable enough for Costco which we all know means the world to me.

Chomping at the bit to vote? Lie to me. You can head over here and do so right now. You can vote every single day and you can enter to win a pair of Clarks for yourself. Win-win? Let's not count any unhatched chicks but I'll go ahead and be cautiously optimistic for me and for you.

And these photos were taken a few weeks ago. I'm wearing a grey sweatshirt on grey sweatpants on grey socks getup right now and won't bring you down to our level of hell and tell you tales from the land of the sicks except to say that Julia (who houses more animals in her cage than those rejected from Noah's most blessed Ark) fought me hard on handwashing vs machine washing (the inhumanity!) her stuffed ostrich that was in the line of flu fire in the middle of the night. After consulting my handy manual, "Thing Grace Does Not Do At 1:22am" and confirming that hand washing stuffed ostriches was indeed listed on page 167 - I won. I won hard.

Thank you in advance for clicking over!!

Or not. I'll never know.

  5. I just voted and it said you had 87% of the vote!!!!

  6. Well, at 91%, you're in the lead! :) I'm with you on hand washing animals. Pretty much, if it can't survive a trip through the washing machine or dishwasher in this house, it doesn't belong here. Do you have a "Scout" by Leapfrog? Those bad boys are all electronically wired into the fluff so you can't separate the two. Who makes a child's toy like that? I just threw it away and bought a new one after a stomach bug in our house.

  7. I'm one of the other entrants in the contest. Just wanted to drop by to say good luck :)

That top is super cute. I love your look!

  8. Voted for you! Your outfit is adorable and you should have totally posed with the minivan.

  9. I machine wash everything too, and if it doesn't survive it goes in the trash and I think "oops" but am secretly happy to have one less toy in the house. Hope you get over your stomach bug soon... Sick kids are the worst so I feel for you.

  10. OMG - I heart those boots, so MUCH! And I hope the flu bug leaves your abode soon (sans hitting Theo or you!)

  12. Simon did not steer you wrong with the curb pose - definitely the shot that sealed the deal on the shoes. (The rest of the outfit was a win in any picture). Also, I am jealous you can pull of grey on grey on grey ;).

  13. Love. And love. And love. (and do not love the plague...sometimes I wonder what the point of being hermits is if we are STILL gonna get sick...)

  26. Of course I agree with what everyone above said, but I want to say how I LOVE that Simon suggested you rock the curb sit. Classic.

  27. Mmmk. I have to admit, I NEVER read sponser blog posts on any blog, but yours. That says a lot. Because promotion posts most of the time suck. You have managed to master the art of promoting something, while being super hilarious at the same time! "Simon suggesting we try to find a motorcycle as a prop"...I was LOLing!! Seriously, you are one funny gal, right up my humor alley!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Seriously. You are drop. dead. gorgeous. And you rock the heck out of those boots and I voted and just like the others said, you're killing. No chance for the others.

Can I just say how behind I am on your posts?! SO FAR. I just caught up. 1) Julia is freaking adorable in that skirt and chambray get up. And the fake phone convo....you've done good. :)
    2) Sebastian is seriously only almost 2 and not almost 7???? 3) so sorry the littles are sick!! hope everyone will start to feel better!

    love, your worst follower.

  30. Just voted for you - although i am pretty sure if i win they won't ship those cute boots across the great pond (that is the atlantique ocea) ... oh and i hope the little ones feel better soon and that you will not be the next to fall dick (that is what usually happens to me)
Hope you have a calm night - it is already 7.15 am here...

  34. You know I voted.

And, can I just say, I feel like your blog has BLOWN UP even since I have been following you (and not because I am following you, although maybe I am that cool). Anyway, it's pretty dope.

  35. I am a little older than the target audiance, but I so see you wearing these with a tunic and leggings or tights and a flowy dress. I think it's good to add something edgy and not so safe to your wardrobe, even if you are just going to Costco or Target.

  36. Voted for you, Grace!! You were rockin the vote!!!!
