Discovering Thee LG EasyClean Oven + A Chance to Win ... An Oven!!

(Fair warning: it's a sponsored post! Please be assured that all profits will go directly into 'we have to buy a not cheap new water heater AND raise important awareness that home warranties are useless!!' fund. Thanks for reading and playing.)

I've been making a concerted effort to let the kids help in the kitchen on occasion. Sebastian loves nothing more (well, he does love to throw diapers away - my little domesticated toddler) than to empty the dirty dishwasher and stack everything into piles, admire his handiwork, rinse, and repeat. Julia has never met a cookie she didn't love so if I make cookies, we aren't at the meltdown before naps point in the day, and Theo is content - I'll let them help. It triples the prep time and makes cleanup kind of a bear but the kids love to help and I'm a softie. Simon and I have different chocolate cookie taste - he likes loads of chips and chunks of stuff and I like scant chippage and a fluffy cookie. This is my favorite recipe. Fluffy and chewy and perfect every single time - even when Bash is extra generous with the brown sugar.

Once the cookies are safely in the oven and the kids are off frolicking in greener house pastures I'm inevitably left with the cleanup situation ...

a good day.

I don't mind messes like this but you know what you'll be shocked to know I avoid like the Bubonic?? Cleaning the oven.  If we ever remodel the kitchen you better believe that I'll be campaigning to put in a LG EasyClean™ Double Oven Range.

Here's how the EasyClean™ works in three simple steps:

1. Spray the oven interior with water
2. press the EasyClean button
3. then in just 20 minutes, wipe away any residual bits of grime. No chemicals or high heat needed to keep the oven sparkling clean.

I don't know if anything in our kitchen (fine! the entire house) sparkles but you know that feeling after you've cleaned one room in the house and you keep absent-mindedly going back in to admire your handiwork? No? Just me? Well .... I'd love the oven to be that room all the time. Love that.

Then I'd feel only a little bit less guilty about letting the oven clean itself while I lick the cookie crumbs off the deck after my little weirds have devoured all of "their" handiwork ...

Just a little.

  1. Favorite recipe that leaves my oven messy? This garlic cheesy bread- so good, but without a pan underneath (WHY didn't I do this...blaming the kids) it's a beast to clean up.

  2. We make cinnamon rolls. And they're delicious. But the ooey gooey sugar, cinnamon, butter crust on the bottom of my oven makes me cringe.

  3. Wow, first commenter (I think). Go me! I would love a new oven to get messy with lasagna rolls. They are easier to make smaller portions out of, plus I just like them better. :-) My recipe is here. http://unmeasuredlife.blogspot.com/2012/11/use-it-up-days-11-13-lasagna-rolls.html And I have a gas oven with no self-cleaning function, so I'd love a new oven!

  4. Cheesecake - so delicious, but makes a mess out of the oven!

    ReplyDelete
  5. We love zucchini bread, but I always overfill my pan so it ends up spilling onto the bottom of the oven. And the last time I used my oven's self clean mode, the control board blew up! So a new one would be nice.

  6. I love to make chicken in the oven, but I have spilt the greasy juice in it a time or two.

  7. Pizza. We are super-terrible at not spilling at least a little of the toppings on the oven floor.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Cupcakes! I always manage to overfill the pans!

    ReplyDelete
  9. I make bacon in the oven because that is the only way to go. Gets perfectly crispy and I am not burning the crud out of my arms with bacon grease splatters. On the flip side, all those grease splatters are then inside the oven.

    But . . . bacon. I can't quit you.

  16. cupcakes can leave my kitchen a mess! but I love them!

  17. Okay, I am actually in desperate need of an oven for our new house. So this would basically be the most amazing thing in the world!! The messiest recipe for us tends to be homemade pizza. Especially that one time we put it directly on the rack and it TORE APART when we removed it thus leaving a pile of sause and cheese and pepperoni on the bottom of the over. Right after I had cleaned it. Needless to say, it remained that way for awhile...

    ReplyDelete
  18. My husband loves it when I make cinnamon rolls with extra "sticky," but it inevitably boils over.

I should also mention that I just found a toasted cockroach in our oven...stupid, stupid Texas. If a spritz of water and an EasyClean oven can fix that problem, I'm sold!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Probably my homemade garlic cheese bread. I never can seem to keep the fresh mozzarella far enough from the edge of the crust.....

    ReplyDelete
  20. Given that my husband recently managed to get cookie dough on the bottom of our oven and just let it sit there and burn and fill my house with acrid smoke--and that our oven is like 35 years old anyway--I'm pretty sure I NEED THIS OVEN.

Veggie lasagna is my favorite oven-dirtying dish to bake. It always bubbles over and I always forget, and then there's sauce burning right alongside that dang burnt cookie. Because let's be honest, I'm not gonna clean that up.

  25. Well just about every recipe is messy if I make it. I love to bake and mostly love to cook (especially if it's with my husband), but I'm horribly messy so if I cook, I don't clean! I don't think it's supposed to be messy, but I always have the worst time with quiche. I think I fill the pie dish too full with the egg goo and then of course I can never put it in without dripping tons in the oven. Oops! messywifeblessedlife@gmail.com

  26. I have a pot roast (modified from the PW) in the oven right now which can get messy...or homemade pizza...let's be honest I love food so anything that's in there can make a mess and therefore it qualifies...right?...

  27. I always seem to choose the wrong size cake pan when making cake from scratch....which means very messy oven. I need to work on that! ( but this oven would help!)

  29. Pizza here too. I always take it off of the pan to crisp up the crust for the last few minutes, and I inevitably spill corn meal off of the pan, and some of the toppings.

  30. Every Thanksgiving the hubby and I make theeee BEST apple pie which was my Great Grandmother's recipe. It bakes for about 2hrs and drips cinnamon and sugar all over the oven and smokes up the entire house- setting off smoke alarms and all. It is a complete mess but so very WORTH IT.
We are about to reno our very UN-retro 1960's kitchen and the LG Easy Clean Double Oven would be a God sent for certain!

  47. It's a toss up between the time I sloshed bacon grease from the broiler pan all over the inside of the oven, an the time I started a small fire in an oven while trying to make baked tortilla chips. I think the bacon wins as it was much harder to clean up.

    ReplyDelete
  48. My future mother-in-law's mac 'n cheese recipe is phenomenal, but it usually bubbles over and ends up on the bottom of the oven. I never clean it. It takes too much time and we live in Arizona...there is usually not a good time to add more high heat to the house.

  49. My favorite thing to bake is angel food cake, but that doesn't make a mess in the oven. The most sure way for me to make a huge, smoke-alarm-setting-off mess? Bake a sweet potato. I leave them in until the skin pops and they leak everywhere.

    But they're delicious!

  52. I really really need a new oven. Really.

Aaron has started making beer-butt chicken (worst name for the best food) in the smoker. We take it out for the last 20 minutes and put it in the oven to crisp up the skin but it makes a total mess of our oven. It's just too big of a set up to NOT bump into walls, heating coils, etc. And we put a cookie sheet under it but drips get out too. Last night I made cookies and could totally smell the left over chicken bits that I missed stuck to the heating coils. Awesome.

  55. My oven is bad. I cook chickens and the grease is all over and I don't want to clean it. :) The chicken is so good and worth it.

Also parchment on top of a bar pan? Do you not want previously cooked food tastes to get into the cookies? I never think to do that.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I have never cleaned my oven and we've lived at our house for more than 5 years. Sick. My favorite messy recipe is my Super Secret Cinnamon Rolls - it leaves every dang surface in the kitchen messy, and the gooey goodness that fills the insides of the rolls loves to bubble over and drip down to the bottom of my oven. My cookie sheets are protected by parchment but my oven takes one for the team.

I'm kind of a stickler for not letting anything dirty the inside of my oven (not because I'm a neat freak, but because I'm lazy and don't want to clean it - LG HELP ME!!!) so I wouldn't say any recipe dirties my oven. 129. The recipe that leaves my oven messy is my enchiladas! I stuff the baking dishes full and use lots of cheese and sauce which, even if I cover them, tends to bubble and slosh over the edge when I pull them out :)

  137. At my house it's those tomato based bubbling cheese topped miracles of Italian-American cuisine like Lasagna, baked penne, stuffed shells - with the splattering and exploding sauce. What a mess, and I do it all the time!

  174. Since I’m relatively new to the baking scene, I haven’t had much in the way of mishaps, but I can tell you that making ice cream cupcakes can get really messy when they tip over!

  186. I hate cleaning my oven too! With two teenagers who love cooking and baking, my oven needs cleaned more often than what I would like! I shouldn't complain since while they are cooking I get to hold my three month old little guy more, it's a win for me! My recipe that leaves a mess in the oven is always lasagna! sonyadmorris@gmail.com
