Five Favorites

Linking up with Hallie and the ladies for a not so quick rundown of five of my favorite things.

1. A given! Pope Francis!!

(floating all over Facebook ... the best)

The kids had just gone down for their naps when I saw on Instagram (I should be more ashamed than I am) that there was white smoke so I settled in to watch any live feed I could find of St. Peter's Square annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd *poof* the internet went out. I was really mad and texted Simon who was in a surgery that this was the WORST day ever and I think I maybe likened his day to a tropical vacation compared to mine because I'm ever the rational nut but I got over it in approximately four seconds and glued myself to the Twitter (where I really, really, really wished Jenny was on the tweeting wagon) but I learned about Pope Francis (not the first ... yet)

And now Simon is talking about how Theodore Francis would've had a nice ring to it ...

2. I don't really know how to transition into something that isn't 99 times less trivial than numero uno so I won't even try. I've been wanting to post about my favorite baby stuff and maybe when Theo turns 9 I'll get around to it but I love this shampoo. Someone gave it to me as a gift when Julia was a baby and we just ran out ... and no! it's not because her hair is still baby length or that we don't bathe our kids every single day. It's the only bottle of stuff that Sebastian can't figure out how to open and dump, open and drink, or open and pour in the toilet. It's also very one-hand friendly which is really nice when the babies are 2 seconds old and slippery and squirmy.

3. I cleaned out my closet and dresser today FINALLY. I've been putting it off and dreading it because it's almost as bad as baby clothes organizing: not pregnant, pregnant but not in maternity quite yet, maternity, and then just had the baby but not in not pregnant clothes yet + factor in the seasons and it's a huge cluster of awful. I got rid of almost all of my yoga-ish type pants because none of them are as great as these from Gap. I've worn them all throughout the last two pregnancies and they've maintained their shape perfectly and I could go on and on and on but I'll stop but they're the best.

4. Anytime Jones posts. Always.

5. These bunnies that Personal Creations generously sent the kids.

They have the kids names on them and I can't speak for our pink burrito but the other two won't go to sleep without them which is the highest form of flattery in a toddler's book.

They love them and I'm about to tie them to their mattresses so I don't go on any super long bunny hunts long after a certain little J should've been asleep.

Now off to Hallie's with you and I hope you have a nice night.

(thanks Sebastian)

  1. I've loved what I've heard about the new pope. He sounds like a really good choice AND I'm super excited that I'll be able to remember his name. No numbers after makes it a lot easier for us non Catholic types.

You were itty bitty teeny tiny one week before birthing that butterball. Color me jealously impressed.

  2. We are already considering Francis as a name...but Francis Hines sounds really Ssss-y to me. I don't know.

And, can we convince Jenny to get on Twitter? It makes all of my days less good than they could be.

  3. Theodore Francis was our boy name! Alas, baby girls cannot be named Theodore.

  7. First of all, that second photo of Julia with a death grip on the bunnies is cracking me up.
Secondly, I feel bad because I'm not even Catholic and I got to watch the live stream today when they revealed him. I should have sent that Internet your way!

  16. First, Viva Il Papa. I say it because I mean it and because I'd feel extra guiltier than normal for talking about the Bachelor having not said something in celebration of our new Holy Father. Having said all that, I don't even really know where to start on the Bachelor front, but I will say that I hated the Bachelor and was shamefully judgemental about Bachelor/Bachelorette fans prior to you turning me on to Jones' blog. That. Girl. And Monica hair? How do you say "laughed my hind off" in Argentina?

  17. Is it wrong that you were the first person I thought of when I heard we had a new pope (via facebook.. I should be ashamed)? Julia's death grip on those bunnies.. hilarious.

  24. LOVE Mustela. And now that you've assured me that it lasts an eternity, I will have no qualms about spending all our expendable income on their products in preparation for Charlie's arrival. ;)
