Conversations with Julia

12 March 2013

wook! I doin a cartweel.

I found her eating a crayon and before I could even say anything ...
Julia: no, I not in twouble.
Grace: you are.
Julia: oh! it was an axe-dent.

Julia finds me in the shower and whips back the curtain ... gives me an up-down and proceeds:
Julia: Basher's frowin the ice!!!
Grace: his ice? please close the curtain
Julia: NO - his ice!!
Grace: he doesn't have any ice and I'm serious - close the curtain
Julia: he's frowin his ice on the gwound!
Grace: oh, his eggs?? close the curtain!
Julia: Yeah! his ice!!!

Julia watches as I struggle to put on a pair of pre (pre pre pre) pregnancy pants:
Julia: you puttin on your tights?
Grace:
Julia: those too small
Grace:
Julia: those not fit
Grace:
Julia: (points to my excess stomach skin) is there a baby in there?
Grace: go away.

Watching me changing Sebastian's bomb:
Julia: It's SO Gwoss!!!
Sebastian:
Julia: Gwoss!!!
Sebastian:
Julia: What you eat, Bashy?
Sebastian:
Julia: That's okay but you GWOSS.

After I put a new shirt on her:
Julia: Oh, I wove it. You buy it at the Target?
Grace: No
Julia: Oh! You buyed it at the Cosco.

heard through the monitor during nap time:
Julia: HAAAAAAAAAALP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
silence and a pause
Julia: This is riddy riddy boring.

After I gave her a plate of chicken with a little tiny bit of oregano:
Julia: no sank you.
Grace: you need to try at least a bite.
Julia: no, I not wike salad.

Fine.

  6. Jo-fiend has been watching Julia's workout dvd, she does the same move! Without the "spotter" though. And sometimes, she does it "no hands."

  7. I riddy riddy love Julia and all the things she says. And male marathoners would be proud of her nipple-taping skillz in that last picture.

  11. I normally find posts of things kids say to be funny only to their parents, but I laughed out loud at every single one of these (just as I do with Simon says).

First comment, but have been loving your blog for 8 months or so. Hilarious.

  12. I love these! You inspire me to get my act together and write down the ridiculous things that come out of my own 2-year-old's mouth...I think she and Julia would get along :) (We have axe-dents, too. Also, "Asses, asses, we all fall down."

  13. She is a TRIP!!! I LOVE when little ones have such huge vocabularies early on--you get the FUNNIEST comments! Keep these posts coming :).

  15. I love it when you post these! You'll be glad too one day when you have a smart mouthed 10-year-old and a sassy 8-year-old. (Okay that's me, not you.)

Wish I had a record of the CUTE things they used to say...sigh...

  16. Oh my gosh, she is talking so much! Life is so much more exciting when they can converse with you, I think. She is hilarious.

  20. Did my comment even post? Bah...sorry if it does twice.

Anyway, she & nat seriously need to be friends. He's taken to calling all kinds of things boring lately and JUST this weekend told me a pair of pants I was putting on were too small for me. Also, in response to being asked where he was driving his toy car, "To Target to see the big red ball." We maybe need to get out more.

  21. This is riddy riddy hilarious.

Ellen calls any shopping Target - or more specifically Meow-r-get...because that's where kitties shop apparently...

  22. This made my day--hilarious. The pants one had me lol-ing. Love the Dora bandaids on the dress.

  23. I'm laughing so hard and reading every one to my husband...I think he thinks it's weird that I find your kids so entertaining :) And I'm so glad my daughter doesn't comment on my flabby post-preg body, I'm sure it would be similar to what Julia says if she did!

  24. I miss nap time...it's riddy, riddy wonderful. I love the Dora breast pads on the outside...beautiful! I look the same way when I do a cartwheel. Actually having Bash leap on my head would probably make my cartwheel look ever so much better! LOL!
I wove Julia...foheveh and foheveh. She not gwoss at all...just Teeows diapers. I want to start a Julia fan club. No seriously I do.

    aaaaannnndddd I just became a stalker...yep.

    ReplyDelete
  30. So, funny! Riddy riddy brightened my zombie of a day!

    ReplyDelete
  31. LOLZ ... that girl. Hysterical.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  33. oh my goodness, these are so funny!!!! "riddy boring" might be my favorite, followed by asking Basher what he ate. haha

my kids still ask me about a baby being in my belly, and I am 20 months post partum. After my five year old announced it during our family Christmas portrait, I had to have a heart to heart with the dear girl and let her know, "even if it's true," you never tell a woman her belly looks like it has a baby in it.

  34. ok the salad thing had me in tears lol i love her!

  35. After careful consideration and multiple reads, I have decided that this is the Best Blog Post Ever.

So good, in fact, that the ice inside my womb are cuwwently screaming "HAAAAAAAAALP!!!!" because they are being wasted every month and not being used to produce a hilarious child like Julia.

  37. This is the truth: I do NOT get tired of reading Julia-isms. Hilarious!

  38. These have got to be some of my favorite posts. They kill me.

If it makes you feel any better, last Christmas my 4 year old niece came up to me (PRE pregnant and at one of my thinner points of my adult life) and asked if I had a baby in my belly. She was heartily embarrassed when I told her it was just food in my belly. (Turns out I did have a baby in my belly but he was about the size of oh, say a blastocyst? So I don't think I can attribute any weight to it.)

    ReplyDelete
  43. I love her. She seems much more pleasant than my monster of a daughter these days.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I love posts like these. I used to be afraid of my baby becoming a toddler because it seems all I ever hear is moms complaining about their toddlers. But then I remember they can talk and say funny stuff, and now I can't wait!

  45. Conversations with Julia just might give Simon Says a run for his money.

  51. You are absolutely awesome for writing all of these down! I keep thinking around my toddler, that oh, I really should record some of this hilarity for the future, but then she moves on to the next "twouble" and I never get to actually do it. And also... How on EARTH is your living room always so clear of toys?!?! Nicely in a box... My goodness, you have three kids and still get tons more done than I do with one. :)
