What I Wore Sunday

13 January 2013

1. Altogether now, "framer"
2. Rainbow (super) Bright and guardian
3. A fork in his right hand and a fork in his left hand ... which only gave me slight palpitations when he went drunk-sprinting down the middle of the street.
4. Where's innocent little Theodore? Licking his multiple milk hangover wounds after being a little glutton and nursing for 8 straight overnight hours followed by a quick two ounce Similac suckdown. I'm guessing he's gained five pounds since birth. Maybe ten.

Is it freezing in your neck of the world, too? I'm always ready for sweater weather until it actually descends upon us and then I hate it.  And that will be the last sentence I dedicate to the weather today.

We've only got a few hours left until Simon returns home from a looooooooooong weekend at the dilation station and I go running out of the house to go to the grocery store to buy nothing and to enjoy a sliver of silence. Oh, I'm sure you'd win the "my weekend was rougher than your weekend" contest but just let me think I had it martyr-level bad. I appreciate it.

Somekindone approached us after Mass at the hospital this morning and mentioned that she reads the blog and I wish I could go back in time and stammer out more than the two words that I did. I was 1/2 embarrassed that I looked exactly like I'd been hit by a truck and 1/2 super surprised. Forgive me and my God-given socially awkward tendencies.

I'm going to enjoy the fact that all three kids are in their designated sleeping pens and are being relatively quiet while I watch the Bachelor premier for the third time this week. If you think I need an intervention you are probably a little something I like to call ..... right.

Kids' Mass Behavior:
Julia: A- (would be an A+ but she loudly explained to me that she was "finished with Jesus" during the consecration)
Bash: C+ (would be a D+ but he was being very generous with his not-at-all-gross open-mouthed kisses which were a nice change from his usual face hits and groin kicks)

Donning:
life vest: Gap via eBay
skirt: Target (could it be any tighter? don't answer that)
prune tights: Kohl's
boots: Carlos Santana via Famous Footwear

Linking up with the pretties over at Fine Linen and Purple. I'm so predictable.

  1. You are such a good mama! Taking two kids to Mass by myself scares (and flusters) the crap out of me. It just goes to show there isn't anything one can't do...

By the way, I am loving Julia's little tights!

  2. I am dying over Julia's "finished with Jesus." That is hilarious.

I love that skirt & that vest!

  3. Totally have that skirt and almost wore it today. :) love what you paired it with. Less predictable than what I would wear it with.

  4. I think I need to go with Bash's foresight and planning. Always keep a fork (or two) handy, just in case any food shows up! And, btw, I have official word that you only seemed surprised after Mass. ;)

  5. Imma have to figure me a way to watch the Bach from my new digs. You're so hot Grace, stop it.

  6. 75 here in the ATL today. Ran a 5K this morning in shorts and a t-shirt. I'm guessing the cold is making its way here from your neck of the woods and frankly, I am overly sick of my warm weather clothes from the VERY recent end of fall and would like a sweater week or two before we're back in spring.

    1. This is random as all get out, but I'm Mary, Grace's sister-in-law, and I'm in Atlanta for work and your race went right outside my hotel this morning. Small world or what?!

  7. How many months postpartum are you? Nope definitely weeks, and only like 2!! You look amazing!

  8. you are looking ridiculously cool and not-at-all-post-partum but I have to say that I'm kind of in love with Julia's pea coat and tights too :)

  9. Hahaha, the glasses, the fork, the "done with Jesus" comment... this post was awesome all around. Speaking of Bachelor, I cheated and Googled the spoilers. So if you really want an intervention, that would be the way to do it. I like the supposed "final rose" winner, but now I don't know if I can sit through the rest of the season. Kind of a lame move on my part.

  10. Did you seriously just have a baby?!
    You look gorgeous.
Way to attack mass on your own with littles. That is SO hard.

  12. What size shoe do you wear? Not because I'm planning on stealing those boots when I come visit you, but because, um...just curious.

On a totally unrelated to stealing your shoes note, are you free next weekend?

  13. I wouldn't ever want to go back and relive those first few months with all three and Dev back at work, and he doesn't even work as crazy hours as Simon! You are amazing Grace! (And so gorgeous!)
That second pic is probably one of my most favorites ever. Haha!
Every time I see this link up I've already changed everyone out of their church clothes and into pajamas.

  14. Love how Julia's putting the glasses on upside down, little cutie. Glad the weekend is over!

  15. I was having the worst work-day ever when I sat down for 6 minutes to read your blog on a break- and Julia's mass behavior was the ONLY thing to make me crack a smile today and LOL. Thanks for that.

  16. Bring that little rainbow brite to my house stat! Oooh, I love her sassy little tights and upside down glasses and being done with Jesus-ness. The best.

  17. totally unrelated to anything you wrote (today, at least), but i finally, FINALLY had ALL 2 ingredients in my house all at the same time for the 2-ingredient banana pancakes you blogged about! I was so excited to make them for Ry and he ate every last bite!!!! YAY... normally when i take him out of his highchair, his entire meal is under him (he hides food... but he'll eat cardboard. ???), but he actually ate them! i even got fancy and added ground flax meal. i'm practically a chef.. thanks for the awesome new recipe!
and, as per usual, your outfit rocks :)

  20. The picture of her with the glasses and tights. Love it. and obviously her comment. I can always count on you to make me smile.

  21. Julia, if it's any consolation I walked out of church today and exclaimed, "I am never going back there again." Maybe I was tired. Maybe it was Ellen's F- behavior in.the.cry.room. Isn't that where I'm supposed to take her to make her calm down? I don't know why I'm asking you. Ask your mom for me.

  22. LOVE the color of your skirt and no it's not too tight.
SO you inspired me to join in on this insanity called "What I Wore Sunday". I am a menopausal 45 year old so I am probably the oldest one in the bunch but I don't care. Your and your fashionista friends have encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone and actually take photos of myself. SO it's your fault that I put make-up on today and my husband says "thank you". LOL!
    See you next week.

  24. Did anyone tell you you just had a baby! You look great and yes, I'm totally jealous/inspired.

Sorry about the groin kicks-they suck.

  25. Grace, you big liar! You are so pulling off the skirt and boots look.

  26. Whoa, I thought that was an Old Navy skirt. I bought three of them just recently and the green one is almost identical to this Target one you're fashioning.

  28. I went through all of your Instagram photos...and I saw that Basher was once "little"....so I full expect that Theodore is working on bulking up. So, one of these days you will have to actually get groceries at the store along with your moment of silence. :)

  29. Love the skirt and your kids are too cute!

  30. So cute! You do not look postpartum at all!

  31. I just love that you called them "prune" tights. Is that really their color?

  32. I wanted to chime in for the zillionth time and suggest you look into POSTERIOR tongue tie. Read about it on the Internet. Sounds like you have all the symptoms. PTT is difficult to diagnose and also difficult to find an ENT, pediatrician, or ped dentis who will properly diagnose. Definitely contact an IBCLC lactation consultant about it and for a referral to a dr who is familiar with posterior tongue tie. It does not appear or look like typical tongue tie most people and doctors are used to seeing.
