Holy mother of enough is enough with the link-ups, Grace. People have bigger and better link-up fish to fry. I know, I know. When will I learn? Never.
(I wasn't going for the look of TLC's A Baby Story ... but I think it screams "serene" anyway. Oops.)
While I collect my thoughts and hormones, relive the horror (horror might be an understatement ... but don't worry ... I'm offering my suffering up for something very important ... and not brag-complaining about it at all) that is the first few days of nursing, try to teach Sebastian how to properly manhandle a newborn, tend to some very sick big siblings, and pound out every melodramatic twist of the tale of Theodore's birth ... I thought I'd pass the blogging baton to some former birthers. Whether you go the brilliant Haiku route, or have a knack for telling the funniest story of all time ... I love reading birth stories. Junkie? I'm not above it.
If you've posted your birth story on your blog ... feel free to (or better yet please!!) link that baby (you like?) up right here, right now. If you don't do it ... I might do it for you. (I'm looking at you Cari, Ana, Dwija, Adrienne, Christine and all the other mothers). If you have six birth stories .... I'll gladly take six links (ahem).
And know that this is not a judgement-free zone. If you went the homebirth route, the medicated birth route, the doula at a hospital birth route, the c-section route, the have your baby at home by accident route ... you will probably be judged for it. It's just the way the cruel world works. Wink.
Can't wait to read and read and read some more. Thanks in advance for feeding my addiction.

I cannot tell you how hilarious I think it is that I got the top 6 slots of this linkup. My week is made.
ReplyDeleteWho said that spending all my time in front of the computer wouldn't pay off?
Now hurry up all you non-Donaldsons out there. I love me some birth stories.
I think it is fabulous, Cari- you rock birthing babies.
DeleteNot to mention neatly filling a full row! Love it!
DeleteI'm not a funny story teller-- or a very good one... but I LOVE me some birth stories. Mine are 2 drug free hospital births, so-- here are my two...
ReplyDeleteMost recent birth (he now 3 months old):

And the First (he is now 28 months old):

Oops... Link up newbie... I added them above now.
DeleteI still have nightmares. http://mandasmeandering.blogspot.com/2011/04/riley-walker-eldridge.html
ReplyDeleteoooooh please oh please hurry up and hash yours out already! you're slowly killing me. I mean, it's not like you have anything else better to do, mom of three. ;)
ReplyDeletecan't wait to read all of the awesome stories! I loooove your idea of this link up. I'm a junkie, too. It's good prep :)
Linked up!
ReplyDeleteHere's a running-themed birth story for you :
ReplyDeletehttp://slowmama.com/health-wellness/a-birthday-story/
cannot wait to sit and read them all. I love love love birth stories.
ReplyDeleteAnd be sure to cue up the "Rocky" theme for background music.
ReplyDeleteawesome! can I tell you how relieved I am to know that I am not the only one out there with birth story addictions? I am promptly throwing my newborn to the tender mercies of his six older siblings so that I can finish his birth story and find the others' in my archives. Hey, kid's got to learn to fend for himself at some point, right?
ReplyDeleteI linked up... I thought it only fair to satisfy the other weirdos that love a good birth story as much as I do! Now for lots of reading...
ReplyDeleteOh I love it. Thanks for providing me with hours of entertainment!
ReplyDeletePerfect timing on my part I guess.. I just finally published my babe's birth story today after mulling it over for almost 8 months. It's long and probably boring, but three days of labor will end up generating a long story, I guess. Attempted home birth, ended up with an epi and a hospital birth. I learned from it not to be judgy of other moms, and I'm grateful for that experience!
ReplyDeleteIs there a way to delete number 21 up there? I linked it to the wrong thing...doy.
ReplyDeleteI love birth stories! I linked up my four (all vaginal, drug-free hospital births, for those who like reading specific types).
ReplyDeleteThe funniest birth story I've ever read is this one: Is that a Uterus in my Taurus?
Great link-up idea! The kids will now fend for themselves while I read them all.
ReplyDeletefun!! fellow birth story junkie here :) perfect for this week...my hubs is working tons over time and i need something to do while i'm on night watch
ReplyDeleteGrace, you are the best blogger ever. I love this idea and added all my links to be annoying. I am SO sorry your other ones are sick, that is the very worst thing, you will be in my prayers!!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh. This is great. BUT...now you've reminded me that I've only written 3/5 of my birth stories and my older children are going to be scarred for life. Thanks a lot!
ReplyDelete(praying for those sickies to stop being sickies, bee tee dub. Hugs)
Yay! My older kids are scarred for life, too. Oh well. They also got the most pictures taken of them when they were babies so I figure it evens out. Yay Theodore! Can we call him Teddy?
ReplyDeleteThis link up was a REALLY good one for me. It made me do a few of things:
ReplyDelete1. Made me import all of my posts from my old blog into The Newbourne Identity.
2. Made me realize that I documented Mark's 1st year of life (and weekly feelings of being pregnant with Mark) WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY better than Joey's. Is Mark the more loved one? Nah....
3. I had way more time one my hands before I was a stay-at-home-mom. Ironic?
- J
P.S. If you are a REAL sucker for birth/pregnancy stories... check out my archives now that I've imported them. I went into WAY more detail than necessary loggin my pregnancy with Mark, but if you get bored on "maternity leave"... it's there for you. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love link ups! I am all for this birth story link up! check out mine. it's #42 for baby 1.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Mine are hidden on the old blog/private personal blog so I can't link them but I'm excited to go through everyone else's!
ReplyDeleteThere goes the rest of my vacation. Love me some birth stories.
ReplyDeleteDang! That's a whole lotta birth stories!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read theo's. Seriously, waiting on the edge of my seat for that one. Get it together, Grace! It's not like you just birthed a human being or anything.
Fun! Glad we can link more than one :)
ReplyDeleteI love a good birth story, seriously waiting on pins and needles to hear yours. Grace, I have unbelievably fast labors (3 hrs and 4 hrs...who the hell knows what this current baby will be) and know completely the "horror" of the pain and body disillusionment. It's so hard to explain to others how it doesn't feel like a blessing it goes that fast...but ultimately, no matter how they come out, as long as they are healthy and happy, I'm ok with it.
ReplyDeleteIt's just the beginning and during process that has me shaking in my boots. Literally. Over here shaking for what the next month will bring. I need to get on top of that fear...right about now.....
I LOOOOOVE birth stories! Thank you for tricking so many of us into sharing our least modest moments with strangers :)
ReplyDeleteohh i will be reading a million of these, fun link up!
ReplyDeletethank you, lady. I am miiiildly obsessed with others' birth stories, so this is the perfect link up for me to peruse once I start mat leave in t-minus a week and a half.
ReplyDeleteI looooooove birth stories, too! And apparently I love dragging on and on about my own...since it's a 3-parter. #sorrynotsorry :) (In hindsight, I only wish I had included a squishy baby picture in part 1 for the linkup, damn.)
ReplyDeleteI love birth stories!! I linked my four homebirths. I am going to have so much fun this weekend reading over the stories.
ReplyDeleteOhemgosh, how wonderful a resource to have 1 million birth stories collected in one post. Grace, you've truly made the internets a better place...
ReplyDeleteI second Jenny. This link up and I are going to be great friends.
ReplyDeleteThis is an incredible resource. Better than The Google.
ReplyDeleteHa! Thanks for the shout out. I always enjoy the 5million views ze old blog gets whenever I'm linked up on the Camp. Can't wait til all the campers visit the 'ta next!!
ReplyDeleteOkay I just linked up. I can't wait to hear Theo's story. Also, you look fabulous. And I don't care what anyone says, the most efficient/horrific form of torture is surely attaching an infant to a nipple.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a lot of birth stories! I figured this is one time I don't have to write a post to join a link-up, since it was already written when my littlest was born (very close to Julia's bday if I remember right). Congrats on Theo's arrival. I love your blog!
ReplyDeleteOh hooray hooray! I love birth stories (and am so glad I'm not the only one, my husband thinks I am way strange). Now I have something way better to do than fold laundry and answer work emails.
ReplyDeleteDo you suppose my two year old would notice if I read him birth stories instead of Thomas the Tank Engine?
added another! My apologies for being sooo incredibly long winded.
ReplyDeleteHow cool! I stopped to leave my 7QT and spotted this link-up in your sidebar. So of course, I just HAD to add my two birth stories, one that included a c-section with a 10-1/2 pound babe. So judge away all you Judgey McFudgeys [winks back]. More seriously, now with #3 on the way, I'm a crazed woman in search of all things pro and con VBAC and I have no clue what I'll do. I have a great NFP-only doc who is so wise and compassionate on this issue, but he doesn't have VBAC-delivery privileges at our hospital, so working through that, too.
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo, longwinded response to a really cool link-up.
Hi, Neat post. There's an issue with your website in internet explorer, might test this? IE still is the market leader and a large component of folks will miss your wonderful writing because of this problem.
