What I Wore on Christmas Link-Up

25 December 2012

the entire enchilada ...
ape stance and all.

This is the first year we haven't been around family for Christmas but I absolutely can't complain because we get the whole day with Simon here at home. I'm really missing trying to coordinate a time in between deliveries/false labor alarms to meet him in the hospital cafeteria. It's weird and wonderful and really wonderful. Julia is at the perfect age to really get the whole concept of presents (stilllllll working on Jesus' birthday ...) and gets just as excited about a new box of golf balls for Simon as she does about a talking Dora doll. Sebastian's excitement buck stops at the wrapping paper but he has been on a roll with a lot of "whoa!!! whoa!!!" and ... "whoa!!!" ... baby's first intelligible syllable? Sure.

We watched The Holiday last night after assembling this (formerly loved) monstrosity. Simon declared it to be the worst movie he's ever seen but was curious if I thought he looked a little bit like Jude Law? Absolutely.

Many, many, many thanks in advance to Anna and her clan for letting us crash their Christmas party later today.
Sebastian was understandably displeased with Simon's executive decision to put him in Julia's plum ankle boots. In Simon's defense ... it seems as though Sebastian has hidden or thrown away every single pair of his own shoes.

Also, please note that Julia's stroller is alll prepped and ready for the new baby.

attire:
turtleneck: the fancier thrift store
pants: Forever XXI
shoes: Blowfish
vest: eBay
glasses: Firmoo
Julia's booster: 36.4 big weeks

kids' Mass behavior:
little J: F
Bash: F
I don't want to type about it but don't think their stockings weren't filled to the brim with something that rhymes with "lumps of the blackest coal".

I can't wait to see all your posts and instafits (#wiwoc) and I wish you and yours the happiest of Christmases!!

  8. Reed's favorite line from that horrible movie: "lets celebrate being young and alive." Poor Jack Black. Also, when cameron diaz does her happy dance at the beginning of the movie... When she is in the bed of that big house?? Reed imitates her perfectly.

  9. This may be the cosmo followed by the glass of wine-mixed-with-peach-schnapps (they call it peach wine in cultural bars) talking, but I just wanted to say how much I love Camp Patton and am so glad for the daily laugh and fashion advice I get here. Christmas hugs from Massachusetts (Phil says I get a LOT more affectionate when I drink...oh there he goes pouring me another glass).

  10. Merry Christmas! Thanks for the Link-up. You all look adorable, even if all are not happy (I know how kids can be).

  13. You and Julia look great (as always), and I'm really loving that both Basher and Simon are in Christmas plaid. Good job, Mama. And Ryan's behavior was probably a C-, but seemed like an F because our friends' baby was perfectly behaved. Hmph.

  14. You all look so merry...even Sebastian. How can you not in red plaid? Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! And thanks for hosting!

  15. The Holiday is one of my favorite movies!!! I even conned a manly man friend into watching it with me and get this... he enjoyed it!!

Love how Sebastian looks like he's about to punch his daddio.

  16. You look darling! You rock pregnancy like no other mother. Sorry I didn't participate this time...we were hopscotching between families all day and I barely had time to think about what I was wearing. Nothing fancy, I assure you.

    Also, Basher's face kills me.

  17. Finally got re-connected to the Internet so I could link up. Phew. Also, so glad Simon was home for you guys, or is that Jude Law? Sorry, I can't tell.

  18. Is it just me, or is Bashy about to clock Simon? Adorable picture, regardless of any impending violence. Hope you guys had a very merry day :)

  19. You look awesome and festive in your red. And the fur vest! I love it! I quickly gave up on sharing my WIWS outfits when I immediately duplicated my first Sunday outfit the following week. And it felt tighter, so that was an added reason.

Merry 3rd day of Christmas! Keeping you in my prayers as you "enter your confinement."

  20. Father/son matching plaid = the best. But where are Simon's plum shoes? For shame!

  21. Oh my goodness, I just love that little Sebastian. That face! Oh...and I joined in this time! Really, I feel hilarious posting anything like this at all, but I had no choice. There was actual proof on my camera that I dressed up. That's big news.

    Hope you are feeling better!

  23. I just found this link-up... 6 months late... This year I think an excellent Link Up would be Christmas Card Outtake Link Up... I have G-E-M from 2012!

  24. This was listed under "You might also like" and it reminded me that you used to do mass grades. One of my faves. Our parish does a "Family Service" earlier on Christmas Eve (earlier than midnight mass) and my two year old was horribly behaved. At the end an older gentlemen said, "You guys did GREAT!" I'm still not sure if he was being sarcastic or encouraging. Maybe both.
