THE GOOD LIFE

If I had one nice thing to say about these months of nightfloat if would definitely be that Simon is guaranteed ~56 consecutive hours off on the weekends before he has to sail back into storkland on Sunday afternoon. Friday mornings bring great promise of sleep at night, a smile or 80, and a newfound appreciation for what a huge help Simon is with the kids when he is home. Oh, you're not in the market for a Father's Day Hallmarker this morning? Scrooge.

Simon and I met up with some of my old friends from college where he says we acted, "like real grownups!" and enjoyed adult conversation, alcohol, and delicious food until a very late hour while we left a sitter to deal with Julia's "I'll scream till you understand that I need the yellow bottle and NOT the pink bottle to sleep even though I am 2-fat-years-old" antics. It was glorious.

We took the kids to one of those super cliche but super fun pumpkin farm/apple orchard establishments with little rides that sent Julia straight to toddler heaven while Sebastian hunted and gathered all the half eat eaten apples and pointy rocks he could get his little grubbers on.

We went on a walk (some might call it a hike due to the hill situation but we won't get into the nitty) where we were able to get a peek at a fancy wedding reception with all it's finery which is one of my favorite pastimes ... gawking + wedding attire = l-o-v-e.

Caroline (I typed "Sweet Caroline" but ... too much? maybe) sent the most amazingly generous box of the cute cute cutest clothes for Master Bash that will send him straight down the fashionisto runway ... on the heels of his father.

And I won't get into the 'tails of the Mass that Simon says "did more harm than good for his soul" where they sneakily snuck a little baptism in (I love a good sacrament but also love a little advance notice), Sebastian turned into a temporary demon, the bathroom that I REALLY needed to make use of was out of order, and we weathered Julia almost dying/skinning her knees outside during the baptism (I'm sorry ... was going to burst ... little Sophia Rose survived) while I was on a wild dungeon-door-to-the-other-bathroom chase.

As a little dessert for the great I also remembered to take my B vitamin that will give me super powers and energy ... one entire time.

It was pretty much a 10 star weekend sandwiched by two .5 star weeks. Bra to the vo.

  5. Our tiny country church has no bathroom. You must venture across the road to the old gymnasium that smells of asbestos and mold, where you can use the facilities behind the super private shower curtain.

  6. Glad the clothes are such a hit!! Asher is growing at an alarming pace, so Sebastian may maintain his fashion lead on Julia...although I'm totally channeling and stealing her outfit this week...stay tuned.

And YES to sitters and grownup nights out - I need one of those badly...considering I'd kill for a night at the movies even...it's been 2 years.

  7. PS My dad was a Neil Diamond fan...hence my name. Then I married into *quite by accident * a family of Neil Diamond fanatics. Lawdy.
