Chia Seed Smoothie

I wake up, throw everything in the blender with slit eyes and dragon breath ... put the blender in the refrigerator so that the seeds can gel. Retrieve, change, and feed a crying/whining Julia and (if applicable) Sebastian. Make sure Julia is momentarily content, pull the blender out and then actually blend. You might want to ease up on the seed amount as 1/4 cup of gelled seeds can get pretty thick pretty fast. Simon keeps hinting at maybe trying a fruity version ... but I'm sticking with my peanut butter for now. I'll let you know if I decide to stretch my wings and fly fruity anytime soon.

This recipe was posted with Cari in mind especially, as she seems to be in the market for such a goodie.

You're welcome, Mrs. Donaldson.

  3. (Yep, just re did my entire comment because the error was driving me nuts.)

This made me laugh because my breakfast smoothie everyday is very similar, without the chia seed crap.

    1 frozen banana
    1/2-3/4 c. almond milk
    2 Tbsp. peanut butter
    1 tsp. honey

    Yum.

  4. I'm still resisting, out of moral superiority, anything that came from the grody Aztecs.
However, I'll give the smoothie a try tomorrow. I'll be sure the photograph and blog about the whole disgusting process.

  6. I don't really know much about chia seeds, but this is really appealing to me. What does chia taste like? Does it really help you wake up the way coffee does?

  7. oooo chia seeds are so weird. I drank them in a fruity kombucha drink one time and they seriously look like squishy fish eggs. This looks delish. I will def. try.

  8. Not much could make me feel worse after inhaling a morning batch of cinnamon raisin, brown sugar, fatty mcfatster french toast, post big cup of coffee of course. Maybe I should let it call me on to better eating... Where do you find these weird seeds?

  10. I think I could make this in a Low-iodine verson (aka make my own Almond milk). If it is as filling as you say it is, I am totally going to do that.

Is there iodine in chai seeds? I sense a google search.
